News: HYT Axl Rose

HYT, pioneer of hydromechanical technology in watch movements, is certainly at home when it comes to being a little bit on the rebellious side. The brand’s designs are ultra-contemporary, shrewdly experimenting with colours, shapes and materials to create surprising and unpredictable timepieces. It’s probably exactly that unpredictably that attracted Guns N’ Roses lead singer Axl Rose to collaborate with the watch brand in its latest new release, the HYT Axl Rose. Only 25 of these models have been created, and they were custom designed to the specifications of the rock’n’roll frontman himself.

The Guns N’ Roses lead singer has kept the brand’s trademark skull for the watch’s overall design—a motif that has graced a number of the band’s album covers over the years. As per Axl Rose’s request, the prominent skull has received a Damascus steel style treatment in vibrant blue, making it stand out even more. This colour is again picked out on the indices and for the stitching of the black leather strap, giving the watch a really cohesive feel. To complete the look, two side plates surround the eye-catching skull at 3 and 9 o’clock, decorated with a subtle Clous de Paris pattern.

The titanium case measures a beastly 51mm, and looks sleek and modern in black, with a rubber sheathed screw-down crown positioned between 2 and 3 o’clock. The exhibition sapphire caseback features a detailed etching of the Guns N’ Roses logo, just above Axl Rose’s signature.

Of course, the watch makes use of HYT’s incredible hydro-mechanical technology, and the in-house manual wind movement indicates the time via the liquid that passes around the border of the skull. The movement, which boasts hand-bevelled bridges and rhodium-plated bellows, beats at 28,800vph and will give you power for 65 hours.
