News: Montblanc TimeWalker Pythagore Ultra-Light Concept

Montblanc is bringing new meaning to the term ‘lightweight’ with its TimeWalker Pythagore Ultra-Light Concept. Weighing in at just 14.88 grams, the watch makes use of a newly developed composite material named ‘Innovative, Technical, Revolutionary Resin’ (ITR²).

According to the brand, ITR² —which includes Kevlar and carbon elements—is four times lighter than titanium, and is used in the construction of the watch’s middle case, case back, bezel and crown. It’s also to this composite material that the TimeWalker Pythagore Ultra-Light owes its smooth, matte and modern appearance.

The watch was created as a tribute to Lin Dan, world badminton champion and brand ambassador for Montblanc. You can see this in the design of the watch, which features several nods to the Chinese sportsman’s career. The ring encircling the dial is a bright red, thought to be a lucky colour in China and, of course, the colour of the Chinese flag, and the stars engraved on the skeletonised dial signify Dan’s sporting achievements.

The watch is powered by the in-house calibre MB M62.48, which features a 50 hour power reserve and is based on the historical Minerva Pythagore movement from 1943. Its design draws from the Pythagorean ‘Golden Ratio’, from where it gets its name.
