News: Bell & Ross Horograph and Horolum
Bell & Ross has updated its classic square shaped aesthetic for its new release watches, the BR 03-92 Horograph and BR 03-92 Horolum, unveiled in the run up to this year’s Baselworld. The pieces are an evolution of the brand’s style, with Bell & Ross claiming inspiration for the Horograph from the artistic works produced at the famed German art school, Bauhaus—simple, modern and functionalist.
Both timepieces feature a steel case, which have been micro-blasted to give them a contemporary, industrial look. The case size for the watches is slightly smaller than is the norm for the brand, at 42mm, so they’re comfortable models aimed at being easily wearable for the day-to-day. Both dials are lumed and highly legible, which is in line with Bell & Ross’ tradition of making timepieces for pilots.
The understated, almost austere design of the Holograph’s matte dial is punctuated by baton indices and rectangular hands, an homage to the simplistic Bauhaus aesthetic. The matte silver look of the Horolum’s dial, meanwhile, will be more familiar to Bell & Ross fans, with large, stylised numbers and arrow shaped hands. The sandwich construction of the dial allows for more lume to be used to illuminate the numbers and indices in the absence of light, and the dial really does come to life in the darkness. Both dials feature a discreet, circular date window between 4 and 5 o’clock.
The watches run on the Bell & Ross in-house calibre 302, which is based on the Sellita SW300-1, and offer a 100m water resistance as well as a power reserve of 38 hours. The timepieces RRP at the same price of $3,400, or £2,725.
