News: Chopard Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Black Edition
Taking place every year since 1923, the 24 Hours of Le Mans is a long-standing and highly regarded motorsport race, part of the World Endurance Championship. As the name might suggest, it’s held in the French town of Le Mans and requires incredible feats of endurance from its participants. Racing teams must negotiate speed and their vehicle’s ability to race for a 24-hour period without sustaining damage as they navigate the Circuit de la Sarthe, a route made up of both closed public roads and a dedicated racing circuit.
It’s not a race for the faint of heart, but it’s one that legendary car-maker Porsche has conquered on many occasions since it first competed in 1970. Chopard has been the Official Timing Partner of Porsche Motorsport since the start of the 2014 season, and in commemoration of the partnership, and the 84th edition of the dramatic race, the watchmaker has released this limited edition Superfast Chrono.
The watch, available in just 100 pieces, is inspired by the powerful Porsche 919 Hybrid racecar, and features a bead-blasted, DLC-blackened titanium case and matte black dial. The car’s logo can be found in the hours subdial at 9 o’clock, and the caseback is engraved with the Porsche Motorsport insignia. A sleek and sport piece, it’s powered by the in-house calibre 03.05-M, and features a flyback function.
