News: Watchmaking Masterclass in Association with the Playboy Club London

What little summer we've had this year might be drawing to a close, but that doesn’t mean the Watchfinder social calendar will be cooling down any time soon. We kicked off the first day of autumn with an exclusive evening event dedicated to luxury watches, in association with the Playboy Club London in Mayfair.

Hosted at the elegantly appointed Tale Bar, a guest list of Watchfinder customers and Playboy members enjoyed complimentary champagne and canapés—as well as a host of beautiful Watchfinder timepieces on display. Twelve premium watches, including watches from Patek Philippe, Rolex, Jaeger-LeCoultre and more, were arranged around the club for guests to peruse at their leisure while they enjoyed the ambience of the contemporary bar and the conversation of fellow watch lovers.

But the horological entertainment didn’t stop there, as Watchfinder’s own Sarah-Jane King ran a masterclass on the knowledge, technique and skill required for high-end watchmaking. Sitting at her watchmaker’s bench, and using a selection of tools from our state-of-the-art service centre, Sarah-Jane deftly manipulated the components of a mechanical watch movement, in front of an eager audience of watch enthusiasts.

And then it was over to the crowd to take their turn. A number of brave volunteers tried their hands at the intricacies of watchmaking, under the careful guidance of Sarah-Jane. With a loupe at the ready, they got to take a closer look at just how tiny the components of a mechanical watch are, and how much skill it takes to work at such a detailed level.
