IWC's Technical Director Albert Pellaton wanted to devise a method to protect the brand’s delicate movements from the crippling effects of magnetism, and as such the IWC Ingenieur was born in 1954. In 1976 it was redesigned by Gérald Genta in a brand new style that inspired the latest incarnations of the watch.
