News: Zenith Pilot Ton-Up DGR

What could be a more gentlemanly pursuit than raising money for a good cause? That’s exactly what happens, every year since 2012, at the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. The event brings together sharply dressed gents on motorcycles, from over 550 cities worldwide, who ride to raise awareness and money for men’s health issues. This year, the ride will be held on Sunday 25th September, and will be sponsored by Zenith—who have released a limited edition watch of just five pieces in commemoration of the fund-raising event.

The Ton-Up is part of the brand’s Pilot collection, and draws inspiration from the ‘Café Racer’ biker movement from the 1950s and ‘60s—the perfect watch to honour the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. It has a distinctly retro design, with stylised Arabic numerals and large, strikingly shaped hands. The dial is easily legible at a glance while speeding through the streets on your bike, and features a handsome grainy finish. It is powered by the legendary in-house calibre El Primero 4069, which beats at an incredibly accurate 36,000vph, and has a power reserve of up to 50 hours—giving its wearer plenty of time to take the ride of their life.

The 45mm case in aged stainless steel has a gloriously vintage brushed finish, and on the caseback is a quirky engraving of the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride logo, which can be seen again on the hand-stitched brown leather strap. Built for the fast lane, the Ton-Up definitely evokes the spirit of rebellious cool of the era that it commemorates.

As Zenith is producing only a limited run of these special edition models, the brand will be awarding them to the five best Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride fundraisers around the world. What better motivation to suit up and get on your bike?
